2.5 The smit.log File as the installp Command Output Log

By default, the output of the installp command goes to stdout and stderr, unless SMIT or VSM is used, in which case the output goes to the smit.log file. When SMIT is used and the installation of a PTF fails, the error messages are recorded in the smit.log file. Part of the smit.log file is shown in Figure 2. This example shows the installation of a PTF that has failed during pre-installation verification:
