Notes from a Linux/Unix Engineer

ReaR

Posted on Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 13:58 by Hubertus A. Haniel

I recently had to revisit ReaR (Relax and Recover) at work as a backup method for Linux systems and I must say this is propably the best way of backing up your linux system and being able to recover it from bare metal. I have managed to recover a linux system with a LVM setup on top of a md raid 1 layout.

Check it out at http://rear.sourceforge.net/

My current and slightly modified packages can be found here.

The main modifications are to make ReaR work on OEL.
