2.1 New and Complete Overwrite Installation

The only times to use the New and Complete Overwrite installation method are:

• You have a new machine. In this case, the hard disk or disks on which you are installing BOS are empty.

• Your root volume group has become corrupted and you do not have a backup to restore it. So, you want to install onto a hard disk that contains an existing root volume group that you wish to completely overwrite.

• You want to reassign your hard disks to make your rootvg smaller.

The New and Complete Overwrite installation overwrites all data on the selected destination disk. This means that after the installation is complete, you will have to manually configure your system using the Configuration Assistant application, SMIT, or the command line.
